Most ESL Program students enter the United States on F-1 student visas. In addition to permitting study in the U.S., an F-1 visa permits on-campus employment while you are a student.
Student visa holders may work on-campus jobs up to a maximum of 20 hours per week while classes are in session. Student visa holders may work an unlimited number of hours on campus during official university breaks.
The ESL Program encourages students to work for a variety of reasons:
The UWSP Student Involvement and Employment Office (SIEO) serves as the clearinghouse for all student positions on campus. SIEO offers free assistance to all student job-seekers.
Please note: ESL Program students who hold student visas may not work off campus under any circumstances.
