President Elect – This is a two year position, with the second year being the President of our STWEA chapter. The first year involves learning the ins and outs of the annual programs STWEA is a part of, assisting with the coordination of these programs, planning general meetings and other various activities. Other major duties include organizing the Books from the Heart campaign in January and February and Deck the Halls in December, which is the decorating of the Portage County Nursing Home. It is an exciting position where you will experience a large amount of growth on many different levels.
Vice President – As Vice President your responsibilities include: logging members’ participation points, organizing the Holiday Basket Project, and decorating the StWEA bulletin board. Other duties include: compiling the mass mailer at the beginning of the year, reserving rooms for meetings, updating the constitution, running elections, and helping the other officers in whatever way you can.
Treasurer – As Treasurer, of StWEA you are in charge of the StWEA accounts. You make deposits, do reimbursements, make a budget, and keep track of this information. You also run fundraisers in the fall and spring semester with the help of the fundraising committee, which you’re in charge of. You also keep track of membership and handle membership forms. Another duty is the Scholastic Book Orders. As an officer you also attend conferences and executive board meetings and help prepare for local meetings. Being Treasurer is work, but the experiences of being a StWEA Officer make it all worth it!
Secretary – As Secretary it is your responsibility to design the monthly newsletters, take minutes at the executive board meetings, create sign-in sheets for each monthly meeting, and organizing carpools to StWEA events. An additional duty is giving birthday cards to the executive board and advisors as well as thank you’s to guest speakers.
Public Relations Coordinator (PR Coordinator) – The Public Relations Coordinator is in charge of advertising any StWEA meetings and events that will be happening. You would update the website and create posters to be hung up all around campus and also distributed to the residence halls. Along with being the PR Coordinator, you will get a chance to be a part and run a great organization and gain many conference professional development opportunities.
Involvement Coordinator – This position puts StWEA into UWSP. As the Involvement Coordinator, you will organize the fall and spring Involvement Fairs, Read Across America and write the CLASS Grant. These projects get you moving around campus, telling others how amazing StWEA is as a professional development tool and learning opportunity to other pre-service teachers. Also, you will organize your E-Board to go talk to current student teachers, Block III students, and Block I students about StWEA and the benefits and protections that StWEA offers.
