About:
Lisa Bardon teaches courses to preservice and service teachers at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Prior to teaching at the University level, Lisa taught students with exceptional needs in both suburban and rural school districts in Minnesota. She taught students with varying disabilities and at various age levels. Her primary focus in teaching was with students with emotional and/ or behavioral disorders at the K-3 level.
In addition to teaching multiple courses at the university, Lisa is active in several other activities. She currently has two action research projects in progress with practicing teachers in two local school districts; looking at the effects of various instructional methods for students with special needs. One of these projects involves undergraduate students as investigators. Li also is active with the Council for Exceptional Children serving as a board member with the state organization, as an advocacy coordinator between the state and national organization, and as faculty advisor for the UWSP student organization.
Dr. Bardon’s areas of foci include the instruction of social skills for students, early ameliorization of maladaptive behavior and addressing disproportionality in special education. The bulk of her research and consulting are in these areas.
