September 6th or 7th

Please read if you plan to student teach in Spring 2012!

Believe it or not….there are some things you need to start thinking about and preparing for now – and the summer is a good time to get started!

  •  You must attend a Student Teacher Application Meeting the first week of classes in the fall. Dates of the planned meetings are (you must only attend one of the two scheduled meetings):

    •  Tuesday, Sep 6, 7:30-8:50am. CCC Room 227
      OR

    •  Wednesday, Sep 7, 7:30-8:50am. CPS Room 317

  • Put these dates on your calendar now. Additional information will be sent to you the week before semester begins.

  • The Student/Intern Teacher Handbook is located on the Office of Field Experiences (OFE) webpage: http://www.uwsp.edu/education/fieldExp/index.aspx  Bookmark this site now, as many important resources are located there. Click on the Resources link to find pages dedicated to Students, Cooperating Teachers, and University Supervisors. Go into the Students link to find the Handbook.

  • Read the Student & Intern Teaching FAQs. Take note of important expectations.

  • Exciting choices exist for your student teaching experience! You should investigate if one of these might be of interest to you:

    • Deadlines for these programs are typically earlier than the UWSP application process. If you are interested, don’t wait to take your first steps to learn more and to get the wheels rolling.

You have already received information from Maggie about other important items. I want to reinforce the importance of completing your Personal and Professional Data Form prior to the start of the school year. You will be glad that you did! Complete steps A and B in the process describe on the link provided.

When you have questions….feel free to contact me. Enjoy the summer break!
