Intra-College Technology Grants

In order to meet the increased specialized software needs of faculty & staff, University Technology Committee (UTC) has created two new grants: Inter-College and Intra-College. The UTC handles requests for the Inter-College grant. Each individual college handles requests and guidelines for the Intra-College grants.

The College of Professional Studies (CPS) has set aside a minimum of $2,155 for 2010-11. The CPS Cabinet, along with the College's Information Technology Specialist will review applications to determine awards and funding.

Guidelines

Here are some general guidelines:

  1. Any faculty member or academic staff member with a .50% or more appointment for the academic year is eligible to apply for a grant.
  2. Grants must be used for the purchase of software. Please check for existing site licenses or availability of packages on campus before requesting funding.
  3. Grants may not be used for:
    • Computer upgrades or purchases
    • Computer peripherals (Peripherals include but are not limited to; printers, scanners, CD writers, hard-drives, additional memory, etc.)
    • Payment of training services
    • Payment of student, LTE or any type/form of employment
  4. Applications must be completed using the online MS-Word file. After completing the form, save the results and email to your department head for review and sponsorship. Once approved, the department head will forward the revised application to the College's Information Technology Specialist for technology review. Applications received on paper will not be accepted.

  6. The criteria for selection by the committee will be based on:
    • Course need and impact on teaching
    • Number of students enrolled in courses (A small course enrollment DOES NOT reduce your eligibility. Special consideration will be taken to ensure fairness among courses, both small and big.)
    • Multi-Discipline needs (Software used by multiple departments in the College; Note: Software DOES NOT need to be multi-discipline to qualify.)
    • Equitable distribution across CPS units.
