| Description: |
This course is designed to introduce activity-based learning strategies for the classroom teacher while implementing the experiential learning model. The class will consist of activities that promote communication, teamwork, responsibility, problem solving, conflict resolution, and processing skills. The course will provide options to utilize these activities in a variety of disciplines, ie; health education, language arts, math, social sciences, & physical education. Additionally, students will be introduced to project based learning and explore different approaches for implementing project based learning in their classroom. Finally, the students will be exposed to adventure activities outside the classroom. We will consider the validity of utilizing such venues and resources as they relate to different disciplines. Course Expectations: The success of the course and the activities utilized is directly proportionate to the involvement of the participants. Therefore, class attendance and participation are an integral part of the class. Students are expected to be at class and be actively involved during class activities, discussion, & reflection. For students who enroll in the graduate level, there will be a project plan required. Implementation of the project and reflection on the result will be required for additional credits.Dress: The majority of this class will be activity based. Please come prepared to be active and when weather permits we will go outside. |
