Description:

This course is designed to provide teachers with an online avenue to explore current research, trends, challenging areas, and focus topics in the field of learning disabilities to keep up to date with the ever-changing field. The federal and state regulations will be explored as they unfold as well as implications of the new regulations on instruction in the classroom. Topics of interest and discussion will include Response to Intervention, REACH, (Responsive Education for All Children), reading fluency, brain research and reading instruction, research based instructional methods and materials, and progress monitoring.  This course will include independent exploration of a topic of interest to meet individual needs and interests. In addition, this course will fit nicely into a Professional Development Plan as it may serve as a springboard for more in-depth research.
