Sociological, psychological and pedagogical approaches to designing professional development plans and portfolios for teachers with initial educator licenses. Practical methods for stating goals, aligning them to standards, collecting evidence, analyzing and reflecting on assessments of professional practice by Initial Educator Teams.

The Initial Educator course is valuable to administrators and ALL teachers, especially to those interested in acquiring or maintaining teacher certification based on the new PI34 framework.

Students participating in this course will:

* Explore and examine the new PI-34 certification process
* Formulate a Professional Development Plan
* Explore and reflect on teaching and learning experiences
   through journals and action research
* Form collaborative teams when possible

NOTE: Teams of teachers from schools can contact the instructor if they would like to tailor this course to their district needs or start at alternative times during semester.
