Description: Clinical supervision is a distinct area of expertise and practice.  The goal of this course is to facilitate the preparation of clinical supervisors in the field of speech/language pathology and audiology.  Participants will gain knowledge of supervision styles and models, interpersonal communication strategies, basic skills and tasks of the supervisory process, performance evaluation, and contemporary supervision issues.  Various supervisory roles across settings will be discussed, including supervision for university students, for school and medical/clinical professionals, and for the Clinical Fellowship and/or Fourth Year Externship.

An independent study project will be required for the second graduate credit.

Note:  This class meets DPI coursework requirements and training requirements for public school professionals involved in supervising students in speech/language pathology and audiology.
