Network Accomplishments

  • Environmental Science Licensure Advancement (2010) - Expanding the options for in-service and pre-service teachers to obtain environmental science teaching licensure was identified as a priority by the Network. Programs are being developed or revised at multiple universities in the state to address this need. The goal is to enable educators to obtain an environmental science teaching license in an efficient manner that supports their professional development needs. Info
  • Wisconsin Environmental Science Teacher Summit (2008 and 2009) - Environmental science teachers from around Wisconsin have gathered twice to network and expand their teaching repertoire. These events celebrated the important work of environmental science teachers and offered opportunities for professional development.

  • Wisconsin Environmental Science Course Framework (2008) - The Wisconsin Environmental Science Course Framework was developed with input from educators in Wisconsin's environmental science community. The purpose for the framework is to provide a consistent foundation upon which environmental science courses in Wisconsin can be developed. The framework aids new teachers in implementing environmental science courses, provides veteran environmental science teachers with new ideas, and facilitates the sharing of ideas and resources between educators. Access the Framework
  • Digital Resource Library (2008) - A clearinghouse of environmental science resources for high school courses has been developed. The resource library supports the Wisconsin Environmental Science Course Framework and is comprised of lessons, labs, field trips, web sites, videos, and more submitted by Wisconsin environmental science teachers.
    Access the Digital Resource Library
  • Database Creation (2007) - Research was done to identify which schools in Wisconsin offer high school environmental science courses. A database of those educators and others with interest in the Wisconsin Environmental Science Teacher Network has been created. To date, there are over 750 contacts.
