Wisconsin Environmental Science Teacher Summit 2008
SUMMARY
The first
statewide gathering of the
Wisconsin Environmental
Science Teacher Network
was held Tuesday,
August 19th 2008 at the
University
of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point.
The theme of
the day was
Sharing Successes, Exploring New Ideas.
The successful event had a great turn out of
nearly 100 participants including over 70 teachers

George
Meyer's Keynote Speech (PDF)
As
Executive Director of the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation and
former Secretary of the Wisconsin DNR, George highlighted
environmental education's success in shaping people's
attitudes toward the environment. He stressed that today's
environmental challenges may be daunting but can be solved
through "the straight-forward task of your teaching
environmental education, one day at a time to our children."
- Environmental
Science Course Framework and Digital Resource Library

The Wisconsin Environmental Science Course Framework and
associated Digital Resource Library were "unveiled" at the
event. The Framework was developed through the hard work of many
Wisconsin environmental science educators with the goal of
providing a consistent foundation upon which environmental
science courses in Wisconsin can be taught. The Digital Resource
Library provides educators an opportunity to share teaching
resources that support the Framework.
