NEEAP Coordinator Abby Ruskey called the 1996 Spring Leadership Clinic, "A powerful recipe for systemic educational change." A like statement could be made for the sponsors of the Clinic who were "the founders of the feast" that resulted from the careful mixing and nurturing that went into Clinic preparation.
The major sponsor supporting programming at the 1996 Spring Leadership Clinic was the Environmental Education and Training Partnership (EETAP--managed by NAAEE) funded through a grant from The United States Environmental Protection Agency. In addition, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the National Wildlife Federation, and the National Association of Conservation Districts helped to support the Clinic.
Sponsors of special events at the Clinic included: the United Paperworkers International Union, Alpha Terra Science of Mosinee, Wisconsin, and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Foundation. Stan Gruszynski, a consultant to NEEAP and a former Wisconsin state Assemblyman, was instrumental in securing support from these Wisconsin institutions.
