Vilas County is served by the North Central Wisconsin Regional
Planning Commission which received $42,000 in 2000 and $133,000 in 2001
from Wisconsin Department of Administration.

Northern Highland - American Legion State Forest.
Wisconsin has nine State Forests (Wow!): Brule River, Northern
Highland-American Legion, Peshtigo River, Governor Knowles, Black River,
Flambeau River, Coulee Experimental, Point Beach and Kettle Moraine
(North & South units).
