A site search function has been added to our website. look for the "Powered by Google" logo toward the bottom of each webpage on the Center for Land Use website.

The Implementation Element Guide is coming together and should be available this summer.

Also, a Sustainable Communities Toolkit for local governments is expected in the summer.

Update of the Zoning Board Handbook continues.

Watertown Daily Times - May 3, 06
Wal-Mart access road is backed -
The Jefferson Common Council on Tuesday evening approved a resolution authorizing city staff to request the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to permit an access break on state Highway 26 on the city's south side to allow for creation of a Wal-Mart Supercenter.

It's not all smiles for proposed Wal-Mart - Plan for new store in east Green Bay draws mixed response from residents.  Supporters and opponents of a proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter on Green Bay's east side braved rain and high winds Thursday to attend a city-sponsored open house for the project.

City Smart Growth public hearing June 12 - The City of Barron's Plan Commission will hold a public hearing June 12 at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall to discuss the city's comprehensive planning proposal.  The City Council will then act on the proposal at its 6 p.m. meeting the same day.

Grant Opportunities

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources "Brownfield Green Space and Public Facilities Grant." The deadline for applications is July 21, 2006.  Green Space and Public Facilities Grants help local governments and tribes clean up brownfield sites for long-term public benefits such as parks, recreational areas, libraries and municipal garages. The Legislature designated $1 million for these grants in the 2005-07 biennium. Eligible applicants include tribes, cities, villages, towns, counties, redevelopment authorities, community development authorities and housing authorities.


Training Opportunities

Primarily for counties where the new livestock facility law and rule (ATCP 51) are having an effect.

The Wisconsin Counties Association, in partnership with the Wisconsin Towns Association, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and the University of Wisconsin-Extension will be presenting an educational seminar on ATCP 51 (the administrative rule that relates to the siting and expansion of livestock facilities in Wisconsin), focusing on the implementation of ATCP 51 by local governments.
