TrunkHiRes4.jpg (83679 bytes)The KEEP Energy Education Trunks are full of educational resources available for KEEP teachers to rent (only in Wisconsin). The Trunks were developed with the middle school student in mind, specifically grades 5-7. They contain materials for FIVE popular KEEP activities (Station Break, Circuit Circus, The Cost of Using Energy, At Watt Rate, and Diminishing Returns) as well as energy education VIDEOS and HANDS-ON RESOURCES. Here is a list of some of the items you will find in the Energy Trunks:

Energy Samples:

Coal packets (peat, lignite, bituminous, anthracite)

Oil in glass bottle (wrapped in bubble wrap)

Simulated nuclear fuel pellet

Wind pinwheel

Photocell kit (kit contains paper directions, 1 photocell, 2 wire connectors with alligator clips, 1 motor, 1 propeller, 1 buzzer, 1 mini light bulb, and 1 mini light bulb socket)

All of the items in the Energy Trunks are valued at more than $500! The activities in the Trunk will keep your students busy for up to 4 weeks!

Trunk Locations

Stevens Point: Visit the Wisconsin Center of Environmental Education (WCEE) Resource Library at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to check out the Energy Trunk. Please contact the WCEE in advance to make sure it's available. wcee@uwsp.edu or 715.346.4150.

Madison: Jim Jenson from Madison Gas & Electric (MG&E) has a trunk available to educators in the area. Please contact Jim at jejenson@mge.com or 608.252.7091.

Milwaukee: If you are in the Milwaukee area, an Energy Trunk is available from We Energies! Visit their Education website to reserve the Energy Trunk and other classroom resources today!
