Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Awareness
Learn about the signs and symptoms of EAB infestation. This information can be found at the EAB Web site at www.emeraldashborer.wi.gov
Since 2008, EAB infestations have been located in the
Village of Newburg (Ozaukee/Washington Counties),Victory
(Vernon/Crawford Counties), and in Cudahy, Franklin, and
Oak Creek (Milwaukee County). Adult beetles have also
been found in Green Bay and Kenosha.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has developed a
new suite of educational materials for children designed
to promote awareness of the emerald ash borer and help
prevent its spread through the movement of firewood:

Climate Change through Tree Planting
In this new LEAF lesson, students explore the role trees can play in
addressing climate change. Students brainstorm and
discuss the benefits that trees provide. They design a
tree planting effort with the opportunity to develop a tree
planting plan for their school or community.

Wisconsin Environmental Literacy Plan
State Superintendent Tony Evers has asked the
Wisconsin
No Child Left Inside Coalition to develop the state’s
first environmental literacy plan to address the
environmental education needs of Wisconsin’s
pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade schools.
The
Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education
is a leader in developing this initiative!
