Rushford Flood Clean-Up Weekend - October 5 - 7, 2007
In mid-August 2007, southwest Wisconsin and southeast Minnesota were hit with a lot of flooding. Rushford, MN, a small town of about 1,500 people, was one place that experienced flooding. Water poured over the dikes, destroying homes and businesses. The town was in ruins and a lot of people were out of a job. In October of 2007, six UWSP students traveled to Rushford to help with the cleanup efforts.
Camp Heartland - January 5 - 12, 2008
Six UWSP students traveled to Rushford, MN to help clean and maintain a camp for children affected with HIV/AIDS. Some service projects included organizing and sharpening ice skates, painting shelves, organizing a donation warehouse and gaining an understanding of the HIV/AIDS virus.
Intercity Impact - Milwaukee - October 24 -

Fifteen UWSP students spent the weekend in Milwaukee, WI volunteering with various organizations dealing with hunger and homelessness issues. Service projects included a large mailing project for the Guest House of Milwaukee and making and delivering a meal at the Campus Kitchens Project at Marquette University.
Serve Chicago - March 15 - 21, 2009
Ten students spent their spring break in Chicago volunteering with various organizations in the city.
On Monday, students worked with the Working Bikes Cooperative to transfer bikes from the old warehouse to the new.
Tuesday, they worked with the Night Ministry, an organization that provides services for the homeless.
Wednesday, H.O.M.E. a non-profit that provides housing for low-income seniors, UWSP students finished a large spring cleaning project.
Friday's service project was planting daffodils in Grant Park with the American Cancer Society.
Buckhorn State Park - August 2009
Six UWSP students camped at Buckhorn State Park for a weekend and helped with environmental stewardship projects such as litter clean up and trail building.
Intercity Impact - Milwaukee - November 2009
Fifteen UWSP students spent the weekend in Milwaukee, WI volunteering with various organizations
dealing with hunger and homelessness issues and learning about the causes. Service projects included
a large mailing project for the Guest House of Milwaukee and making and serving a meal at the Rescue Mission.
New to the 2009 Intercity Impact program, participants hosted a movie night for the residents at the Guest House.
Alternative Spring Break: Moab, Utah - Spring Break 2010
Eleven UWSP students traveled to Moab, Utah to volunteer during their spring break with Plateau Restoration. Plateau Restoration is a non-profit organization based in Moab, Utah that is dedicated to protecting and restoring native wildlife habitats of the Colorado Plateau through hands-on education, ecological restoration, re-vegetation, and research.
Growing Power, Milwaukee - April 7 - 9, 2010
Ten UWSP students spent a weekend volunteering at Milwaukee's Growing Power. Growing Power is a national nonprofit organization and land trust supporting people from diverse backgrounds, and the environments in which they live, by helping to provide equal access to healthy, high-quality, safe and affordable food for people in all communities. Participants weeded and prepared planting beds in a community garden, sifted compost, fed the goats, and more!
Intercity Impact, Milwaukee - November 2010
Ten UWSP students participated in the third annual Intercity Impact program. Participants assisted with a letter writing campaign for the Guest House of Milwaukee, volunteered at a Halloween party for the women and children at The Joy House, and sponsored a movie night for the residents of The Guest House.
Alternative Spring Break: Boston - 2011
Ten students spent their spring break in Boston volunteering for a variety of non-profit agencies. They volunteered at Cradles To Crayons (http://cradlestocrayons.org/), Room To Grow (http://www.roomtogrow.org/), My Brother's Keeper (http://www.mybrotherskeeper.org/), and the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge (http://www.cancer.org/Treatment/SupportProgramsServices/HopeLodge/Boston/index).
