Program Leader: Stefan Ruediger

In conjunction with the Tianjin University and the University of
Wisconsin- Stevens Point, Division of Business and Economics and the
International Programs Office offer a study abroad program focusing on
Business Administration/
Economics Internship Experience in China.
There are many reasons to study in China with UWSP, these include:
- Huge market: Due to China’s fastest economic growth over the last two decades and its recent accession to the World Trade Organization, this transition economy has become one of the largest open markets in the world. Future professional opportunities for those of you who have first-hand experience in China are envisioned.
- Unique educational experiences: Each of you will be paired with a Chinese student (who speaks English) with Business Administration major to job shadow with leaders of some Chinese business firms and you will have lectures delivered in English. You will also earn 3 credits.
- Better candidacy: Your internship experience should make you a more competitive candidate for firms doing business with China and the Pacific Rim.
- Entry tour to Beijing: It allows you to see the beauty of one of the oldest capital cities in the world along with sightseeing at the Great Wall, Tianamen Square, Ming Tomb, Forbidden City, Sacred Way, visits to jade, pearl, cloisone or silk factories, etc.
- Internship experience in Tianjin: Our base, Tianjin, is a city rich in historical and cultural wonders.

VITA/TCE Internship
IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
and
Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Program
Course Objectives:
- To Provide a significant educational experience by providing
hands-on learning in the filed of Federal and Wisconsin income tax
law and tax return preparation.
- To integrate the classroom experience with job experience.
The SBE offers three VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) internships
during the spring semester. VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)
interns work jointly with accounting professionals in the community
(such as Dave Rosin and Gary Maluka) that are involved with the VITA
program. Students obtain classroom training in tax law, compliance, tax
software in addition to having taken tax courses at UWSP. The interns
have a set schedule of hours to assist taxpayers with tax return
preparation. A tax professional (supervisor) is available to help
students with any complicated tax issues that may arise and review
returns for errors, giving the students added learning opportunities
while assuring taxpayers of accurate tax returns.
I get feedback from people within the community that VITA is a valuable
service for low income taxpayers. The students get experience meeting
with taxpayers (clients), preparing returns, learning additional tax
laws and completing many different tax forms. The students are more
qualified to begin working in taxation upon completion of the program,
and more valuable to their future employers.
