Ranuculus spp.; buttercup [Ranunculaceae]  Annual or perennial herbs usually with 5 shiny, golden-yellow, rapidly deciduous petals and numerous pistils.  Leaves typically much divided and dissected.  Many species found in Wisconsin; most native, a few introduced, usually in moist to wet places and flowering relatively early in the season.  [053]
