10, 2001 Pointers Record Five Pins in Win over UW-River Falls
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point wrestling team had five
pins and three shutout victories in a 45-6 dual match victory over
UW-River Falls Saturday at Berg Gym.
Three of the Pointers� pins came in the third period as
heavyweight Mitch Gehring, 184-pounder Ben Kureck and 197-pounder Yan
White all had pins in the final minute of their respective matches.
Jeremiah Curtis at 141 pounds and Wes Kapping at 174 pounds also
had pins for the Pointers, who improved to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in the WIAC.
Brady Holtz had a technical fall at 133 pounds and Jeremy
Stapelford had a major decision at 149 pounds for the Pointers. Other
winners were Nathan Preslaski at 157 pounds and Joe Bavlnka at 165 pounds
as UW-River Falls� only victory came by forfeit at 125 pounds. UW-Stevens
