Both Second at Oshkosh Invite
Jenna Mitchler bettered her NCAA provisional
time in winning the women�s mile and also captured the 3,000-meter run
as the UW-Stevens Point men�s and women�s track and field teams both
placed second at Saturday�s UW-Oshkosh Invitational.
Mitchler won the mile in 4:59.78 and took the
3,000-meter run in 10:08.28, beating teammate Teresa Stanley by less
than a half-second. The Pointer women had 109 points with UW-Oshkosh
winning the nine-team meet with 264 points. UW-Stevens Point�s men�s
team had 166 points and the host Titans totaled 249 for the team title.
The men�s team had four winners as Nick
VerDuin took the 200-meter dash in 22.60 seconds, Adam Baumann won the
55-meter hurdles in 8.01 seconds, Mitch Ellis won the high jump at six
feet, 8.25 inches and Kent Hutchison claimed the long jump at 21 feet,
3.5 inches.
Kyle Steiner had three
runner-up finishes for the men, placing second in the 800-meter run in
1:59.01, the 55-meter hurdles in 8.08 seconds and the high jump at six
feet, 8.25 inches. Peter Prusinski added a second place effort in the
shot put at 48 feet, 2.5 inches and the 1600-meter relay team was
runner-up in 3:23.68.
The women had three
second place finishes from Jamie Scott in the long jump at 16 feet,
10.75 inches, Amy Frey in the triple jump at 35 feet, four inches and
Katie Simo in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.05. |
