Pointers Post Doubles Wins, But Fall to
Vikings
After UW-Stevens
Point opened with a pair of doubles victories, Lawrence battled back to
win four of six singles matches and pull out a 5-4 non-conference
women�s tennis victory over the Pointers on Wednesday in Stevens Point.
Emily Riordan
and Kaitlyn King posted an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles, while Sarah O�Melia
and Mashell VerBockel claimed an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles in the
first two matches of the dual.
O�Melia added
a win at No. 6 singles by a 6-2, 6-0 count and Emily Bouche triumphed at
No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-2. Lawrence�s Tara Lahtinen pulled out the tightest
of the six singles matches with a three-set win over VerBockel 7-5, 0-6,
6-2 at No. 4.
The Pointers fell to 0-2
overall, while Lawrence is now 5-1. UW-Stevens Point hosts UW-Stout and
Ripon on Saturday.
