Ver Bockel Wins Twice in Loss to Falcons
Mashell Ver Bockel won in both singles and
doubles for UW-Stevens Point's lone victories in a 7-2 women's tennis loss
to UW-River Falls on Friday in River Falls.
Ver Bockel won her No. 5 singles match 6-3,
6-3 and also teamed with Angie Brown for a tiebreaker win at No. 2
doubles. The pair won the tiebreaker 7-4 after deadlocking at 8-8 in the
eight-game pro-set.
Brown also had a solid singles performance at
No. 2, falling in a first set tiebreaker to Leah Baron and then dropping
the second set 6-4. Sarah O'Melia took a set at No. 6 singles and was
defeated by Mindy Rudiger 10-7 in a third-set tiebreaker.
The Pointers play at UW-Stout on Saturday at 9
a.m.
