Gross Wins Two Events at Get
to the Point Invite
Chase Gross captured the 200-yard freestyle
and also anchored the winning 400-yard freestyle relay in leading the
UW-Stevens Point men�s swimming and diving team at Saturday�s Get to the
Point Invite.
The Pointers men�s team finished in third
place, falling just 13 points short of Gustavus Adolphus for second.
UW-Stevens Point had 667.5 points with North Dakota winning the team
title with 968 points.
The UW-Stevens Point women�s team placed
second with 867.5 points as North Dakota also won the team title in the
seven-team meet with 1,073 points.
Gross had a time of 1:45.61 in his individual
win and joined Alex Anderson, Matt Grunwald and Tyler Eloranta on the
relay to post a time of 3:08.43. Garth Newport also had an individual
title in the 100-yard butterfly in 51.43 seconds. The 200-yard medley
relay team was second in 1:36.95.
The women�s 200-yard medley relay of Liz
Herder, Jennie Roskopf, Beth Bard and Jerica Crook posted a winning time
of 1:50.13. Caitlin Hake was the Pointers� lone women�s individual
winner on Saturday with a time of 24.93 seconds in the 50-yard
freestyle.
Roskopf was second in the 100-yard
breaststroke in 1:08.88 and the women�s 400-yard freestyle relay was
runner-up in 3:39.62.
The Pointers host UW-La Crosse in a dual on
Sat., Jan. 28 at 1 p.m.
