Anderson Leads Pointers to 12th Place at NCAA Men's Championships

     Alex Anderson was an All-American in three individual events and swam on four of the Pointers five honorable mention All-American relays as the UW-Stevens Point men�s swimming and diving team placed 12th at the NCAA Division III championships over the weekend in Holland, Mich.

     Anderson was third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 56.61 seconds, seventh in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:05.12 and eighth in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.27 seconds.

     He joined Travis Wolf, Garth Newport and Aaron Marshall for a ninth place finish in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:33.76. The 200-yard freestyle relay was 12th in 1:25.30, while the 400-yard freestyle relay was 13th in 3:08.91 and the 400-yard medley relay was 13th in 3:29.65. The 800-yard freestyle relay was 16th in 7:05.42. Marshall and Tyler Eloranta were also members of four relays, while Newport swam on three relay teams.

     Kenyon (Ohio) dominated the meet to extend its NCAA record for consecutive titles in any sport to 26 straight.
