Weise and Prawat Lead Pointers
Past Carroll
Box Score
UW-Stevens Points sophomore forward tandem of
Kaylee Weise and Amanda Prawat accounted for all of the Pointers
offense as they rolled over Carroll 5-0 in a non-conference womens
soccer match Thursday in Waukesha.
Prawat scored a pair of goals just 58 seconds
apart in the first half and then Weise took over with three straight
goals for her first career hat trick. The win came in the first match
the Pointers have played in the Milwaukee area in their 20-year varsity
history and improved the squad to 3-1-1 overall.
Meredith DeCaluwe and Pam Luckow combined for
the teams first shutout of the season as DeCaluwe made one save over
the first 20 minutes and Luckow stopped all eight shots on goal in the
final 70 minutes of her first match with the Pointers.
Prawat scored unassisted at the 10:39 mark of
the match and then converted a penalty kick for a 2-0 lead less than one
minute later. She also assisted Weises first goal, setting her up for a
score at the 31:38 mark that gave the Pointers an eventual 3-0 halftime
advantage.
Weise, playing nearby her hometown of
Brookfield, added two unassisted goals in the second half, scoring less
than five minutes into the period and then again with just under eight
minutes remaining.
The Pointers held a 21-12 advantage in shots
for the match. |
