Pointers Fall to Gustavus Adolphus

UW-Stevens Point fired 19 shots at
Gustavus Adolphus on Sunday, but only came up with one goal in a 3-1 loss
to the Gusties at St. Peter, Minn.
The Pointers outshot the Gusties
11-4 in the first half and 19-11 for the match, however, Gustavus Adolphus
keeper Tori Boughton made eight saves to hand UW-Stevens Point its first
loss of the season.
Gustavus Adolphus recorded an
early goal as Amy Larson scored 7:24 into the match. The goal stood until
halftime and Larson struck again just 47 seconds into the second half
following a corner kick. The Gusties added a third goal less than 10
minutes later when Kelly Bottenberg scored unassisted.
Amanda Prawat tried to start
a Pointers' rally with a goal with 14:08 left, but UW-Stevens Point was
unable to score again. The win was the Gusties' first over the Pointers
since 1997 as UW-Stevens Point was 6-0-1 over the last seven encounters.
