Bruce Sets WIAC
Career Assists Record in Victory

Jenny Bruce
became the all-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women�s
soccer assists leader as UW-Stevens Point registered a 3-0 non-conference
win over Concordia-Moorhead on Friday in Stevens Point.
Bruce assisted
Kelly Fink�s first half goal 37 minutes into the match for her 47th of her
career, surpassing former UW-Stevens Point standout Jennifer Davis, who
played from 1996-99.
The senior from
Menasha also assisted a goal by Megan Frey eight minutes into the second
half to give her 48 for her career. She now has 48 goals and 48 assists in
her career and is close to becoming the ninth player in NCAA Division III
history to reach 50 goals and 50 assists.
Fink scored a
second goal for her 18th of the season seven minutes into the second half
off an assist from Melissa Becker. She fired a high shot that Cobbers�
goalkeeper Jamie Savage deflected off the crossbar and into the net.
The victory
extended the Pointers� unbeaten streak to five matches and ran their
overall record to 10-2-2. Concordia-Moorhead fell to 9-3-1 following its
first ever meeting with the Pointers.
UW-Stevens Point
is ranked 25th in the nation and will host UW-Superior on Sunday at 1 p.m. |
