Bruce Named WIAC Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Jenny Bruce has received All-Region, All-Conference and Academic All-American awards, but finally she is a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Despite being a three-time first-team All-WIAC selection and two-time first-team All-Region performer, the UW-Stevens Point senior forward had never earned the conferences weekly honor until now after her eight-point opening weekend.

Bruce, a former Menasha High School standout, scored the game-winning goal with 4:25 left to lead the 10th-ranked Pointers past then 22nd-ranked St. Thomas 3-2 on Friday. She also added two goals and two assists in Sundays 8-1 win over Lawrence.

Bruce ranks eighth on the conferences all-time scoring list with 121 career points and needs one assist to become the third player in WIAC history and 28th player in NCAA Division III history to record at least 40 goals and 40 assists in a career.

UW-Stevens Point is currently 2-0 overall and hosts Carleton in a non-conference match Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Pointer Soccer Bowl.
