Point Wins 100th WIAC Match With 12-0 Win at Superior
SUPERIOR � Ten different players scored goals as the UW-Stevens
Point women�s soccer team recorded its third straight shutout and its
100th victory over a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
opponent with a 12-0 win over UW-Superior on Saturday.
Kelly Fink and Melissa Becker each had two goals and two assists
for the Pointers, who improved to 100-1-2 all-time in matches against WIAC
opponents. The win extended the Pointers� national-best conference
winning streak to 57 straight matches and upped their season record to
5-0-1.
Becker
took a pass from Fink and started the scoring just 3:45 into the match as
the Pointers built a 7-0 halftime lead by outshooting the Yellowjackets
29-0 in the first 45 minutes.
Of
UW-Stevens Point�s final eight goals, five were scored by defenders as
Tara Schmitt, Becker, Mollie Kreibich, Katie O�Leary and Macy Mory all
tallied goals. Midfielder Megan Frey added a goal with three assists,
while Jenny Bruce, Molly Cady and Kim Reese also had goals.
Melissa
Meister gained her first career solo shutout by making five second half
saves as the Pointers finished with a 46-6 shot advantage.
