Pointers Roll Past Gustavus Adolphus
for Non-Conference Victory
The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point soccer team jumped out to
a 4-0 lead and rolled past Gustavus Adolphus 4-1 in a non-conference match
Saturday at the Pointer Soccer Bowl.
The Pointers, ranked 18th in the NCAA Division III poll,
are now 3-1 overall and also beat the Golden Gusties 4-1 last season.
Jenny Bruce scored just five minutes into the game on a header off
a cross by Marie Muhvic. Later in the half, Muhvic and Jenny Schmit teamed
up to feed Renee DeBroux for her second goal in as many games.
Stevens Point natives Muhvic and Margaret Domka put the game away
with goals in the first four minutes of the second half. Gustavus Adolphus'
Renee Beaudry scored with 20 minutes left to put the Gusties (2-1) on the
board.
The Pointers host another Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference foe Monday when they host St. Thomas at 1 p.m.
