Pointers Stay Hot and Cruise Past St.
Thomas
Goals have been coming in bunches the past week for the University
of Wisconsin-Stevens Point women's soccer team and the trend continued
Monday in a 7-1 non-conference rout of St. Thomas at the Pointer Soccer
Bowl.
Marie Muhvic scored three goals and Jenny Bruce had three assists
to lead the Pointers, who have now scored 17 goals in the past three
matches. Muhvic's goals gave her six for the season and 50 for her career,
moving her closer to Susie Lindauer's career goal-scoring record of 55
goals.
Molly Cady added two goals and an assist for the Pointers,
including a goal just 2:33 into the match that was the first goal allowed
by the Tommies in four matches this season.
Andrea Oswald had a goal and two assists for the Pointers, while
Gretchen Talbot, a transfer from St. Thomas, scored her first points for
the Pointers with a goal and an assist.
UW-Stevens Point is now 4-1 overall and hosts the only remaining
undefeated team in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference when
3-0 UW-Oshkosh visits the Pointer Soccer Bowl Wednesday at 4 p.m.
