Butkowski, Randall Repeat on Academic All-American TeamsFor the second straight year, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point student-athletes Jody Butkowski and Jen Randall have been named to the Verizon Academic All-American teams. The two Central Wisconsin natives are among three athletes in UW-Stevens Point history to earn Academic All-American honors in the same sport in consecutive years. Soccer player Jenny Bruce, who was honored earlier this fall, is the only other. UW-Stevens Point has now landed 21 Academic All-Americans in school history, including 18 since 1999. Butkowski, a Stevens Point Area Senior High graduate, was named to the third team in women�s track and field and carries a 3.85 grade point average in English. Randall, a Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School graduate, was a second-team selection in women�s swimming and diving and has a 3.97 GPA in Business and Mathematics with an actuarial emphasis. The teams are selected among athletes from all Division II, Division III and NAIA schools around the country by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Each squad includes three 15-member teams. Butkowski, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women�s outdoor track and field scholar athlete, was the conference champion in both the triple jump and 4x100 relay. She placed ninth at the NCAA Division III outdoor championships in the triple jump. Butkowski is a three-time All-American in the triple jump. She placed sixth at the 2002 Division III outdoor championships, eighth at 2002 indoor championships and second at the 2001 indoor meet. Randall, who was named the UW-Stevens Point female Athlete of the Year in an individual sport this past season, was a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that finished seventh at NCAA Division III championships and won the WIAC championship. She also holds the WIAC record in the event and the All-American relay finish was the seventh of her career. She placed 15th in the 400-yard medley relay at this year�s national meet for the fifth honorable mention All-American finish of her career. Randall has swum on nine WIAC champion relays and was this season�s WIAC scholar athlete award winner.
