Randy
Reed (Appleton,
WI/East) � The senior centerfielder hit .462 for the week (18-for-39) as
the Pointers went 7-1 to capture the WIAC championship. Among Reed's 18
hits, 12 were for extra bases with six doubles, two triples and four home
runs for a 1.062 slugging percentage. He also had 12 runs scored and 16
RBI's with hits in all eight games as the Pointers averaged 10.5 runs per
game for the week. Baseball - Pitcher
Shane
Standifer (Princeton,
WI/Princeton) � The freshman earned two victories for the Pointers and
also pitched 3 2/3 strong innings in a start in the 8-7 win over
UW-Whitewater Sunday that clinched the WIAC championship. Standifer earned
the win in a 9-8 win over UW-Stout in 10 innings and pitched five innings
allowing one hit in a 10-2 win over UW-Oshkosh. For the week, he pitched 10
2/3 innings, allowing 10 hits and five earned runs while striking out eight
and walking five. Softball - Position

Melissa
Mullins (Appleton,
WI/East) � The senior leftfielder went four-for-15 for the week with hits
in each game at the WIAC tournament as the Pointers went 1-2 at the WIAC
tournament. She drove in the team's lone run with a second inning RBI single
in a 2-1 loss to UW-Whitewater and finished three-for-eight at the
tournament. Softball � Pitcher
Karen
Guckenberger (South
Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) � The junior went 2-2 with a 0.90 ERA for
the week, including a 10-inning shutout of Division II UW-Parkside. For the
week, she pitched 31 innings allowing 16 hits and four earned runs. She
struck out 26 batters and walked four while setting the school's
single-season strikeout record with 143 and single-season ERA record at
0.73. Men�s Track Events
Matt
Buska (Mosinee,
WI) � The junior placed second in the 400-meter run at the WIAC
Championships in La Crosse. Buska�s time of 48.69 seconds provisionally
qualified him for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He was also a member of
the 400-meter relay team and the 1,600-meter relay team, both of which
finished second and met the provisional qualifying standard. Men�s Field Events
Cory
Lesperance (Sheboygan,
WI) � The junior claimed the WIAC Championship in the long jump in La
Crosse this weekend. Lesperance jumped 7.08 meters (23� 2.75��) to win
by over two inches. Lesperance�s jump also provisionally qualified him for
the NCAA Championships. Women�s Track Events
Becky
Lebak (Burlington,
WI/Burlington) � The senior was a double winner at the WIAC Championships
in La Crosse last weekend. Lebak won the 10,000-meter run in an NCAA
automatic qualifying time of 36:41.68. She then completed the sweep of the
distance events by winning the 5,000 meters in 17:36.21, also qualifying for
the NCAA Championships in that event. Women�s Field Events
Amanda
Nechuta (Mosinee,
WI/Mosinee) � The freshman claimed UW-Stevens Point�s first WIAC shot
put title since 1990. Nechuta�s toss of 14.03 meters (46� 0.5��) won
the event at the WIAC Championships and automatically qualified her for the
NCAA Championships. Nechuta also finished third in the discus with a throw
of 41.10 meters (134� 10��). |
