Brolsma, Kochan Named to NCHA Men�s First
Team
UW-Stevens Point junior forward Zenon Kochan and freshman forward
Mike Brolsma were both named to the All-Northern Collegiate Hockey
Association men�s first team.
Senior goaltender Bob Gould, senior defenseman Randy Enders and
freshman defenseman Sean Leahy were all named honorable mention. Enders was
also one of five Pointers named to the league�s All-Academic team, joining
seniors Dave Cinelli and Kelly Kisell, junior Joel Marshall and sophomore
Ryan Scott.
UW-Stevens Point finished 18-9-2 overall and 8-6-2 in the NCHA. The
Pointers were at their best at the end of the season, finishing 8-1-2 over
the final 11 games.
Kochan, a Madison native who attended St. Louis Park (Minn.) High
School, had 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points. Kochan sparked the
Pointers� late-season charge by scoring points in the last seven regular
season games and both of the NCHA quarterfinal series victories against
UW-Stout.
Brolsma, an Appleton native and North High School graduate, led the
Pointers in scoring with 22 goals and 17 assists for 39 points. Brolsma
ranked second in the league in scoring among freshmen. He had hat tricks in
a key late-season win over UW-Eau Claire and an NCHA quarterfinal win over
UW-Stout.
Gould, an Eagle River native, had a 3.00 goals against average and a
.899 save percentage, while posting an 11-7-2 record. He finished his career
ranked second in school history in wins, saves, shutouts and games played.
Enders, a Madison native and LaFollette High School graduate, was the
leader of the Pointers� defense that ranked 11th nationally in penalty
killing at 87.5 percent. He was the team�s highest-scoring defenseman with
five goals and 12 assists and was also an honorable mention selection last
season.
Leahy, a Port Edwards native, posted three goals and 11 assists as
one of the league�s top rookie defensmen. He scored nine of his 14 points
in power play situations.
St. Norbert coach Tim Coghlin was the league�s Coach of the Year
and Green Knights� forward Maris Ziedins was the Player of the Year. 2001-02
