Pointer Sports – Thursday, April 20 Pointer Fastpitch Invitational Cancelled Due to Weather The Pointer Fastpitch Invitational scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled. The tournament was scheduled to feature UW-Stevens Point, UW-La Crosse, UW-Eau Claire and Calvin (Mich.), but will not be played due to rain. The tournament was originally scheduled to be played Thursday and Friday, but was later changed to a one-day format on Friday. The tournament will likely not be made up. UW-Stevens Point will be in action again Mon., April 24 at UW-Whitewater at 3 p.m. in a rescheduled doubleheader from April 11.
Baseball Doubleheaders Still Scheduled Despite the rain over the past two days, this weekend’s Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference baseball doubleheaders at University Field are still scheduled. The Pointers open a 10-game homestand this weekend by hosting UW-La Crosse Friday at 1 p.m. and UW-River Falls Saturday at noon. UW-Stevens Point is currently 17-6 overall and 0-2 in the WIAC. UW-La Crosse is ranked 24th in the NCAA Division III at 19-6 overall and 2-0 in the WIAC, while UW-River Falls is 11-9 overall and 0-2 in the WIAC. UW-Stevens Point is also scheduled to host Winona State Monday at 1 p.m. |
