SHEBOYGAN - The reigning NCAA Division III men's basketball champion University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point remained undefeated with a 70-59 win over Lakeland College on Friday night.

The Pointers improve to 3-0 going into tonight's home opener, where the team will unveil the championship banner against Ripon College.

"It was a good win, but we didn't play particularly crisp," UWSP coach Jack Bennett said. "We found a way to win and that's the mark of a (good) basketball team."
UWSP got 20 points and eight rebounds out of Jason Kalsow and 11 from both Tamaris Relerford and Nick Bennett. Eric Maus contributed 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Pointers.

Nick Zeck scored 19 points for Lakeland (1-2).

UWSP struggled shooting the ball in the first half (36 percent), ending with a 28-23 lead at halftime. Things vastly improved in the second half (53.8 percent), but Lakeland continued to hang around. The Pointers used an 8-2 run with about 212 minutes left to close out the ball game.
