Mon 31- Dec-2001 STEVENS POINT -- The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point coasted to a 90-58 victory against St. Francis on Saturday at Quandt Fieldhouse in the Sentry Classic. The Pointers improve to 10-2 for the 2001-02 season. Josh Iserloth provided UW-SP with a solid offensive performance as he hit 80 percent of his shots and finished as the game's leading scorer with 23 points. "Izzy was the recipient of some great passes tonight," said Pointers head coach Jack Bennett. "But, I thought Josh let it come to him and it seemed to work. He is shooting the ball with a lot of confidence as of late." Nick Bennett was perfect from the floor as he drained all three of his shots -- including a 3-pointer midway through the second half -- and went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe to finish with 11 points. Ron Nolting, starting in place of Kalonji Kadima, nailed three 3-pointers to reach double figures with 10 points. Kadima, who is recovering from two injuries, came off the bench for the Pointers to score three points. The senior guard is nursing a sprain to his left index finger and recovering from knee surgery earlier this season. "We got out what we wanted from him tonight," Bennett said. "He just has to get back into the routine of the game. The knee is OK. However, his finger is swollen with some discomfort. But he'll play through that." The Pointers are back in action Wednesday when they travel to
WIAC rival Eau Claire. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Zorn Arena. |
