Pointers trounce Mount Senario 109-44

STEVENS POINT -- The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team utilized its depth on Thursday against Mount Senario as six Pointers finished in double digits during a 109-44 drubbing of the Fighting Saints.

Josh Iserloth led UW-SP (9-2 overall) with 22 points in just 11 minutes of action. He drained eight out of nine shots from the floor, including all three of his attempts from beyond the 3-point line.

The victory came one day after an 86-75 overtime win against La Crosse for the Pointers' first win this season in the WIAC.

"This was the result we hoped for after these two games," said UW-SP head coach Jack Bennett. "We came out hard and played well together and everyone made a contribution in their own way."

The margin of victory -- 65 points -- is the largest in UW-SP men's basketball history, eclipsing the previous record of 63 in a 109-46 win against Northland College of Ashland on Nov. 22, 1983.

Other players in double digits for the Pointers were Nick Bennett with 13, Jesse Capelle with 12 and Nick DeVos, Justin Mallett and John Gleich each with 10 points.

Mount Senario, whose overall record drops to 0-12, has announced the termination of its athletic programs effective Sunday. The Fighting Saints will have one more game Saturday when they host Northland Baptist Bible College of Dunbar.

The next game for the Pointers is Dec. 29 when they host St. Francis College of Illinois in the second meeting between the two nonconference teams in less than a month. UW-SP defeated the Saints 77-61 on Dec. 1.
