Falcons in NCHA Opener

The UW-Stevens Point men�s hockey team outshot
UW-River Falls 25-12 in the final two periods, but came up short on the
scoreboard in a 3-1 loss to the Falcons in an NCHA opener Friday at Hunt Arena
in River Falls.
UW-River Falls goaltender A.J. Bucchino turned away 30
shots, as the 12th-ranked Falcons improved to 4-1-2 on the season. The Pointers
fell to 3-3 on the season.
T.J. Dahl got UW-River Falls on the board first with a
goal at 9:31 of the first period, assisted by Pat Borgestad and Jim Henkemeyer.
Jared Sailer put the Falcons up two in the first period with an unassisted power
play goal at the 15:20 mark.
UW-River Falls took a 3-0 advantage in the second
period as Jim Henkemeyer recorded his third goal of the season on assists from
Dustin Norman and Wade Harstad. Sean Fish drew the Pointers within two, scoring
early in the third period on an assist from James Jernberg. With the assist,
Jernberg has recorded a point in four straight games.
UW-Stevens Point continued to pressure Bucchino with
11 third period shots, but couldn�t come any closer.
