UW-Stevens Point had a pair of leads slip away, but
still extended its unbeaten streak to four games with a 3-3 tie at
Concordia-Moorhead in non-conference men�s hockey action Friday in Moorhead,
Minn.
After a scoreless first period, the Pointers built a
2-0 lead in the second period with goals from Russel Law and Anthony Forgione
coming less than four minutes apart. Law scored off assists from Rolf Ulvin and
Sean Fish, while Forgione�s goal came just seconds after a big save by Pointers�
goalie Marcus Paulson and was assisted by Shane Foster and Nick Zebro.
Concordia-Moorhead evened the game with two goals in
the final eight minutes of the period, but the Pointers regained the advantage
with 7:23 left in the game when Foster scored off a pass from Zebro. The Cobbers
again rallied, getting the tying goal with less than four minutes left in the
game.
UW-Stevens Point had an apparent game-winning goal
disallowed in overtime when the Pointers appeared to score with five seconds
left, but the officials waved off the score.
The Pointers dominated much of the game with a 47-21
advantage in shots as Cobbers� goaltender Mike Dowers made 44 saves. Paulson had
18 saves for the Pointers, who are now 7-5-1 overall. Concordia-Moorhead is
5-5-1 overall.
