DULUTH, Minn. - Brett Coburn rifled in two third-period
goals to propel the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point men's hockey team
to a 2-1 win over St. Scholastica on Saturday. The win snaps a four-game
losing skid for UWSP - its longest since the 1997-98 season.
Coburn broke a 1-1 tie with 32 seconds to play when his shot went past
Saints' netminder Corey Wogeth. It is the second time this season the
freshman forward has scored a game-winning goal for the Pointers. Adam
Kostichka was credited with the assist on Coburn's game-winner.
Coburn tied the game 3:55 into the third period with his sixth goal of the
season. Kostichka and Nick Zerbo assisted on the goal.
UWSP (12-9-1, 5-6-1 NCHA) was benefited by goalie Ryan Scott as he made 17
saves in net. Wogeth stopped 38 of the 40 shots he saw in goal for St.
Scholastica.
