Men�s Hockey Pegged Fourth in NCHA Preseason Poll
The UW-Stevens Point men�s hockey team will open its season next
weekend picked for fourth in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association
preseason coaches� poll.
The Pointers will host NCHA rival UW-Superior in the season opener on
Fri., Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m. at Willett Arena in a non-conference game. The
Yellowjackets are predicted to finish second, while defending champion St.
Norbert is expected to repeat its league title.

returns 14
letterwinners, including most of its key players starting with senior goalie
Ryan Scott and junior forwards Adam Kostichka and Mike Brolsma, who shared
the team lead with 27 points apiece. Senior Justin Micek added 21 points a
year ago and junior Ryan Kirchhoff scored 18 points last season.
Defensively, Scott started all but three games in goal last season and has a
solid defensive core in front, led by sophomore James Jernberg and junior
Sean Leahy.
Scott
will be pushed by a pair of incoming goaltenders in Ted Eastman and Nick
Niedert, who will contend for playing time. |
