LAKE FOREST, IL - The
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point men's hockey team couldn't seem to
shake its current funk Saturday night, dropping a 5-1 decision to host Lake
Forest.
The loss is the third straight, and the fourth in the last fifth contests
for the Pointers (11-8-1, 4-5-1 NCHA). Ironically, UWSP's last trip to the
win column came against the Foresters last Friday, a 3-2 victory at K.B.
Willett Arena.
Lake Forest (15-4-2, 5-4-1 NCHA) took control of the game in the second
period, with a pair of goals coming from Robin Charest and another from
Brian O'Connor to push the Forester's advantage to 4-0. Tyler Canal and Rob
Nerland also added goals for Lake Forest.
The Pointers avoided a shutout in the third period, when Ryan Kirchhoff
scored a power-play goal, with assists coming from Brett Coburn and Adam
Kostichka, at 6:13. Ryan Scott made 18 saves in the loss.
UWSP will return to action
this Friday, hitting the road to face UW-Superior at 7:05 p.m.
