Success Helps Pointers at Whitewater
UW-Stevens Point lowered
its team score by 11 strokes and moved up three places after the first
day to finish seventh of 17 teams at the UW-Whitewater Invitational over
the weekend.
The Pointers posted a
final team score of 699, shooting a 355 on Saturday and a 344 on Sunday.
Illinois Wesleyan won the meet with a 642 team score. Sarah Mosher led
the squad for the first time this season, carding an 80 on Saturday and
an 82 on Sunday to place 10th overall with a 162 total.
Susie Lewis lowered her
score from an 89 to an 83 on Sunday and placed 26th overall with a 172
score. Courtney Timblin was 43rd with a 93 on Saturday and an 88 on
Sunday for a 181, while Katie Kautz was 54th after posting a 93 on the
first day and a 91 on the second day for a 184 total.
The meet was the Pointers'
final tune-up for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
championships, which will be conducted Oct. 1-2 in Superior.
