Men's Cross Country Team Ranked 26th Nationally
After an impressive second place performance at
the 39-team Augustana Invitational over the weekend, the UW-Stevens
Point men's cross country team is ranked 26th in the latest NCAA
Division III rankings by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country
Coaches Association (released Sept. 26).
The Pointers were unranked in the preseason
poll and broke into this week's poll prior to one of their biggest meets
of the regular season on Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational in South
Bend, Ind.
In addition to several Division I schools, this
weekend's event includes four other ranked Division III teams with
top-ranked Calvin (Mich.), seventh-ranked UW-Oshkosh, ninth-ranked North
Central (Ill.) and 21st-ranked Augustana (Ill.) also participating.
UW-Stevens Point is one of four Wisconsin
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams in the poll. In addition to
the Pointers and UW-Oshkosh, UW-La Crosse is ranked second and
UW-Platteville is sixth. |
