Women First, Men Third at Ripon Invitational
The UW-Stevens Point women�s cross country team had five of the top
seven finishers as the Pointers cruised to a first place victory at the
Ripon Cross Country Invitational Saturday.
The Pointers finished with
19 team points, which was 64 points ahead of second place UW-Oshkosh in
the 10-team meet.
The men�s team finished third out of 10 teams.
UW-Stevens Point totaled 84 points with UW-Oshkosh winning the meet with
32 points and Ripon placing second with 32 points.
Jenna Mitchler won the women�s individual
championship with a time of 18:59. Teresa Stanley finished second at
19:28 and Ashleigh Potuznik came in third at 19:59. Tami Scott finished
in sixth, posting a time of 20:24 in her first race of the year. Hannah
Dieringer rounded out the scoring with a seventh place finish.
For the men�s team, Greg Haak posted the
Pointers� best time of 27:37, good for 11th overall. Zach Bitter
finished 15th at 27:54. Jon Waldvogel and Nick Berndt snuck into the top
20, finishing 18th and 19th, respectively, with times of 27:56 and
27:58. |
