Brehm Earns Second-Team Academic All-American Honors
The only
Academic All-American in UW-Stevens Point baseball history, Chuck Brehm
earned the honor for the second straight year as a second team selection on
the squad selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America
and ESPN The Magazine.
Brehm, a senior outfielder, also received third-team laurels last season.
The 28th Academic All-American in school history, Brehm�s selection marks
the fourth time a Pointer athlete has earned the honor two straight years.
Jenny Bruce was a three-time pick in women�s soccer, while Jody Butkowski in
women�s track and field and Jen Randall in women�s swimming and diving were
also two-time selections.
A Spencer
native, Brehm was one of three outfielders on the 11-member second team,
which includes all Division II, Division III and NAIA players from across
the country.
Brehm, who was
UW-Stevens Point�s male athlete of the year in a team sport and a third-team
All-American, carries a 3.88 grade point average in Physical Education and
ranked among the national leaders with 16 home runs this season. The WIAC
Position Player of the Year, Brehm helped the Pointers to their first
Division III World Series appearance since 1997 where they finished fifth
overall. Brehm hit .340 with 48 RBI�s and a single-season school record 29
stolen bases. He ranks second in school history with 36 career homers and 53
stolen bases.
