FOND DU LAC - Marian College put on a hit
parade but had to hold on for a sweep of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point baseball team in a nonconference doubleheader on Wednesday.
In Game 1, Matt Peetz and Matt Polomis each went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead
UWSP (21-13), but Marian (25-16) countered with a 3-for-4 day by Brad
Behringer and chalked up a six-run sixth inning before holding off a pair of
two-run frames by the Pointers for the 10-9 victory.
Jake Penzer allowed four runs on five hits through two innings but got the
win, while Jeremy Mueller gave up two earned runs on four hits in taking the
loss.
In the nightcap, no Pointer garnered more than one hit, while Dan Wilson led
Marian with a 3-for-4 day.
Cory Tjader struck out two, walked four and gave up four earned runs on five
hits through six innings for the win.
Zac Peterson fanned four and walked three, giving up three earned runs on
six hits in 3 2/3 innings to take the loss. |
