Pointer Sports Oct. 27, 1999 Womens Soccer -- UW-Stevens Point 7, UW-Platteville 0 Marie Muhvic had three goals and two assists to lead the UW-Stevens Point womens soccer team into the semifinals of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament with a 7-0 quarterfinal win over UW-Platteville Wednesday at the Pointer Soccer Bowl. The Pointers will host UW-Eau Claire in the semifinals at 11 a.m. Friday. The Blugolds advanced with a 3-0 win over UW-Stout Wednesday. UW-La Crosse, which beat UW-Whitewater 1-0, will face UW-River Falls in the other semifinal at 2 p.m. UW-River Falls advanced with a 2-0 win over UW-Oshkosh. UW-Stevens Point is 19-1 all-time in WIAC tournament games and is looking for its seventh WIAC title in eight seasons. UW-Stevens Point outshot the Pioneers 33-2, including a 19-0 advantage in the second half. Hope Wadel scored the Pointers first goal 6:40 into the match with assists from Muhvic and Jennifer Davis. Davis made it 2-0 seven minutes later, finishing from a cross by Heather Camps. Muhvic scored her first goal 10 minutes into the second half with an assist from Davis. Wadel made it 4-0, scoring on a long pass from Muhvic at 63:22. Muhvic scored two goals in a 1:34 span in the second half with assists from Davis and Brwynn Maas. Micky Jacob finished the scoring with a header off a pass from Camps. Davis three assists gave her 45 for her career, tying her with Susie Lindauer (1989-92) for the most career assists in UW-Stevens Point history. Muhvic now has 19 goals this season, ranking second on the single-season list behind her 21 last season.
